The first phase of Power Electronics UK
A UK power electronics strategy initiated by the UK government in 2011 identified need for a national “Power Electronics Forum” to address strategic challenges.
Power Electronics UK “PEUK” was formed in 2012 as an industry led organisation. It had immediate impact on targeted government support for the sector.

The Industry Challenge : Driving the Electric Revolution
Why do we need to re-boot and energise Power Electronics UK?
- In achieving Net Zero and in implementing an effective UK semiconductor strategy, power electronics is essential across all sectors.
- There is a enormous opportunity for UK Industry to participate in an innovative supply chain for power electronics, strengthening the domestic sector.
- In the delivery of a relevant UK semiconductor strategy, compound semiconductor, advanced packaging and heterogeneous integration are UK strengths in realising power electronic systems.
- Interconnects, inductors, capacitors, thermal management systems and material, dielectric materials, gate control systems are all in scop
- A unified message from UK industry needs to be heard to help the UK navigate this increasingly complex sector and deliver maximum impact from investment,
- If our voice is not heard and reacted to, UK power electronics will become imported systems, UK jobs will be lost, and our national security weakened.
- It is the ambition of Power Electronics UK to deliver this on behalf of the UK Power Electronics Industry big and small.
The next steps for Power Electronics UK
- Power Electronics UK “PEUK” supported by TechWorks and NMI.
- Today we are launching a new iteration “PEUK”
